Dopo tante polemiche e colpi di testa, Miley Cyrus ha ottenuto uno dei titoli più importanti per un cantante, quello di Mtv Artist of the Year del 2013. Trascorsi alcuni mesi dalla scandalosa performance con Robin Thicke sul palco degli MTV Video Music Awards di New York, i dirigenti della piattaforma musicale hanno deciso di nominare la giovane 21enne artista dell’anno secondo queste motivazioni: «Che sia per la linguaccia, il twerk agli VMA, il servizio fotografico con Terry Richardson, non si può negare che ci sia stato un metodo dietro alla follia di Miley. E’ lei la nuova Regina del Pop». Parole importanti espresse da MTV che certamente tengono conto anche del successo mondiale della cantante ottenuto in questi ultimi mesi con l’uscita dell’album Bangerz che ha guadagnato il primo posto in nove paesi tra cui Stati Uniti e Regno Unito
Miley Cyrus has been named the 2013 MTV Artist of the Year after the scandalous duet with Robin Thicke during the MTV Video Music Awards in August. Just months after her performance, executives at MTV have decided to name the 21 year old the Artist of the Year, explaining, «Whether it was the tongue, the twerk-tastic VMA performance or the Terry (Richardson) photo shoot, there’s no denying there was a method to Miley’s madness. She’s the new Queen of Pop». In addition, her album Bangerz earned the number one spot in nine different countries including the U.S. and the U.K.
